The Garland Daisy is a leafy annual herb native to the Mediterranean region, prized both for its ornamental value and its culinary uses. This fast-growing plant thrives in full sun to partial shade and prefers moist, well-drained soil. It is well-suited to temperate climates but may flower prematurely in warmer or hot conditions, especially if exposed to stress such as drought or high temperatures.

Garland Daisy is widely cultivated in East Asian cuisine, particularly in Cantonese, Chinese, Korean, and Japanese cooking. The young leaves and tender stems are edible and are commonly harvested for use in soups, hot pots, stir-fries, and salads. When picked early, the greens have a mild, slightly peppery or herbal flavor and are highly nutritious.

In the garden, the plant also produces charming, daisy-like flowers in a mix of white, yellow, and gold tones, making it a dual-purpose plant—both edible and decorative. While primarily grown as an annual, it may self-seed in favorable conditions.
