Sweet William – Mix
$2.50 – $42.00
Sweet William, a relative to the Carnation, is a sweet-smelling flower that enjoys a moist and cooler climate in full sun to partial shade. The mix offers a variety of colors between pink and red. It makes an excellent cut flower. Sweet William does not like heavy acidic soils or hot climates. This flower works great for a border or to plant in a mass.
*This flower is a perennial so it may not bloom the first year it is planted. Be patient with this flower to establish and bloom. See our photos for a photo of what the smaller plants look like before they bloom so you don’t accidentally pull them when weeding.
*Most perennials will not bloom the first year they are planted. They establish a plant the first year and then bloom the second and every year after that. Annuals will give you color the first year you plant them and then can reseed themselves if they like where they are growing. This is why perennials tend to be more expensive. It takes twice as long to get seed off of the plant than an annual when initially planting.
The broadcast rate for seeding is 12 – 15 pounds per acre.
The seed drill rate for seeding in rows is 6 pounds per acre.
