Cascade Quick Green Blend is a cool-season lawn seed blend made from two varieties of Turf-Type Perennial Ryegrass. It is designed for rapid germination, quick establishment, and a lush, dark-green lawn where fast turf development is important.

Perennial Ryegrass provides quick initial growth, dense turf, attractive green color, and good wear tolerance. Using two varieties creates a well-rounded Perennial Ryegrass blend suited to new lawns, turf repair, overseeding, and areas where rapid ground coverage is desired.

Cascade Quick Green is particularly well suited to lawns that do not receive heavy traffic and to regions where Perennial Ryegrass is commonly used for lawn establishment or overseeding.

Seed Mix

  • 50% Turf-Type Perennial Ryegrass – Variety #1— Provides rapid germination, quick establishment, dense growth, and attractive green color.
  • 50% Turf-Type Perennial Ryegrass – Variety #2— Adds a second Perennial Ryegrass variety to help produce a lush, uniform lawn with good turf quality.

Best Uses

Cascade Quick Green Blend is particularly well suited for:

  • Residential lawns
  • New lawn establishment
  • Lawn renovation
  • Turf repair
  • Overseeding existing lawns
  • Low- to moderate-traffic lawns
  • Rapid ground cover
  • Erosion-control applications
  • Winter overseeding in suitable regions

Establishment & Growth

Cascade Quick Green is designed for fast establishment. Perennial Ryegrass is one of the faster-germinating cool-season turf grasses and can provide visible turf development relatively quickly under favorable conditions.

The blend produces a dense, upright lawn with attractive green color. For best results, establish in a well-prepared seedbed and maintain consistent moisture during germination and early growth.

Sun & Shade

Cascade Quick Green performs best in full sun to partial shade.

Perennial Ryegrass can tolerate some shade, but it generally performs best where adequate sunlight is available. For heavily shaded lawns, a blend containing a higher percentage of fine fescues may be a better choice.

Water & Drought Tolerance

Perennial Ryegrass performs best with adequate moisture and is not considered highly drought tolerant.

During prolonged periods of summer heat and drought, irrigation may be needed to maintain green, actively growing turf. In areas with naturally dry summers, consider local climate and irrigation availability when selecting this blend.

Regional Fit

Western Oregon — Excellent Choice

Cascade Quick Green is particularly well suited to Western Oregon’s cool, moist growing conditions and is a strong choice for rapid lawn establishment and attractive green turf.

Southern Oregon — Good Choice With Irrigation

The blend can perform well in Southern Oregon when adequate irrigation is available. Hot, dry summers can stress Perennial Ryegrass, so supplemental water may be necessary to maintain green, actively growing turf.

Central Oregon — Good Choice With Irrigation

Cascade Quick Green can be used in Central Oregon with irrigation. The region’s dry summers and temperature extremes can be challenging for Perennial Ryegrass, making consistent moisture important.

Eastern Oregon — Use With Irrigation

The blend can be used in Eastern Oregon where irrigation is available, but its performance can be limited by the region’s hot, dry summers. Irrigation is generally important for maintaining green summer turf.

Northern U.S. — Good to Excellent Choice

Cascade Quick Green can perform well across many northern areas where cool-season grasses are appropriate, particularly in regions with moderate summers and adequate moisture. It is well suited for new lawns, renovation, overseeding, and rapid turf establishment.

In areas with hot, dry summers, irrigation may be needed to maintain green turf through the summer.

Southern U.S. — Primarily for Winter Overseeding

Cascade Quick Green can be particularly useful in the Southern U.S. for winter overseeding of warm-season lawns. Perennial Ryegrass provides green winter color while warm-season grasses are dormant. As temperatures rise in spring, Perennial Ryegrass typically declines as warm-season grasses resume active growth.

Lawn Repair & Ground Cover

Cascade Quick Green is an excellent option when quick turf repair and rapid soil coverage are important.

Its fast germination and establishment allow it to cover bare or damaged areas relatively quickly under favorable conditions. Perennial Ryegrass is primarily a bunch-type grass, however, so it does not spread aggressively through rhizomes. Larger bare areas may require reseeding rather than relying on natural spreading.

Maintenance

Cascade Quick Green benefits from regular mowing, appropriate fertilization, and adequate moisture.

Avoid removing more than one-third of the grass height at a time. Proper mowing and watering practices help maintain dense, attractive turf.

Because this blend is composed entirely of Perennial Ryegrass, it is best suited to homeowners who are comfortable with regular lawn mowing and watering when conditions require it.

Planting

Preferred planting seasons: Spring and Fall

Fall is generally an excellent season for cool-season lawn establishment. Spring planting can also be successful when soil temperatures and moisture are suitable.

For best results, prepare a firm seedbed, distribute seed evenly, and maintain consistent moisture during germination and early establishment. Visit our Lawn Planting Tips for more information.
